Apple-Pie Roasted Almonds

When you’re craving a sweet afternoon snack, try these sugar and spice covered nuts. They satisfy a sweet tooth but since the almonds have protein and healthy fats, they also feel satisfy your hunger. The nuts are a much better choice than a sugary coffee drink or pastry.

Autumn Roasted Almonds

Apple-Pie Flavored Almonds

You can season nuts many different ways but for this recipe, I went with an autumn theme and used apple pie spices. If you don’t have the spices listed below, you could use 1 tablespoon apple pie spice in place of the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves. Enjoy!

Apple Pie Roasted Almonds
4 cups plain almonds
1 egg white
1 tablespoon water
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt

Put almonds on a large four-sided baking sheet (10″x15″x1″) lined with parchment paper. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 15 minutes. Remove from oven. In a small bowl, beat egg white and water until frothy. Set aside. In another bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar, spices and salt. Pour egg white mixture over almonds. Sprinkle with sugar-spice mixture. Use a large spoon or spatula to mix almonds together, making sure they are all covered. Place the pan back in the 325 degree oven and bake for 20 minutes, removing once during baking to mix the almonds. The coating should be dry when the almonds are done baking. Remove from oven and let cool before serving. Makes 16 servings.
